Redesigning a classic experience

In the early 2020s, the flagship Mindbody University program began to experience declining attendance and less favorable ratings. We set about to re invigorate the program and bring new features and measurable marketing results to the forefront.

Although this immersive 3 day seminar had retained a strong value for the clients in attendance, the materials were outdated, the presentations were not as professional or powerful as they could be, and little thought for adult learning principles had gone into the experience.

We took the opportunity to uplevel the presentation materials, added interactive forum discussion, created activities centered on proven learning practice, and create a state-of-the-art blended physical workbook with online exercises and reference materials.

The program saw an increase in attendance, jumped from an average satisfaction rating of 3.24 to a rating of 4.85 overall, and started driving an average of a $10,000-$15,000 per event increase in added feature subscriptions. We were even able to adapt the content we created to fuel online offerings such as webinars and how-to guides between events.

Delivering the experience

We assembled a team of best-in-class SME presenters from our team of Mindbody Certified Business Consultants to assess what we could use from the original program while bringing current insights into business practices in the Fitness, Beauty, and Wellness markets.

The team, working from varied levels of experience in content creation, put together new sessions that all worked in concert to provide a business curriculum that would speak to the challenges that our clientele were facing. We got great results and improved our attendees’ business results by providing them with proven practices and applicable software tools.

Guiding the learning

We used a variety of hands-on exercises to re-enforce the concepts and put them into immediate practice. Employing paired sharing, group discussion, prototyping with rapid feedback, and guided software application, our presenters were able to give attendees immediate feedback and ensure proficiency.

Transferal of knowledge to practice was encouraged through regular opportunities during sessions to create an action plan, which was re-enforced through post-even email check-ins.

Integrated learning

By incorporating a physical workbook that integrated with online assets, we encouraged the participants to take the learning back to their businesses and incorporate the concepts and practices there. Including feature guides, videos, and online exercises to compliment the seminar sessions, these participant materials fueled actual business results!

We used callouts during the live sessions to pages in attendees workbooks, enabling them to follow along with live demonstrations. QR codes present in both presentations and workbooks ensured that attendees could access online resources and software features to review during the event and practice later.
